Two children critically injured in collision
A head-on collision left two children aged 18 moths and 4 years critically injured and two others with serious injuries. A father was travelling along Jim Fouche road in Weltevreden Park this afternoon at around 1pm with his two children. It was purported that he was overtaking and collided head-on into an oncoming vehicle.
When Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene they found that the 18 moth old boy was sitting on the front seat and the 4 year old was on the back seat at the time of the accident. Both children were critically injured while their father and the driver from the other vehicle had sustained serious injuries.
“Advanced life support paramedic Velicea Swanepoel and her team worked fervently to stabilise the injured before transporting them to the Netcare Olivedale clinic for the care that they required. The 4 year old child was then airlifted with the Netcare helicopter to the Netcare Garden city hospital where specialists were standing by to take over the medical management of the critically wounded child” said Chris Botha of Netcare 911.
