Kids go back to school
Eyewitness News reports over one million registered pupils will start the new school year in Gauteng on Wednesday. Thousands of grade one children would begin their scholastic careers, while thousands of matrics would be entering their final stretch.
The provincial Education Department’s Nanagolo Leopeng said the number of children in the classrooms had increased compared to last year. “Preliminary figures show that there will be a 1% growth in learner enrollment for this academic year. We are looking at having 1.9m learners in Gauteng,” said Leopeng.
