On Monday afternoon, August 20, 2012, a couple in their mid-30's, of West-African origin, entered my shop pretending to be customers, and stole my handbag, containing my cellphones, ID and wallet, while I was attending to another customer.

Three VW Polo Vivo cars have been stolen this week in the SAPS Fairland precinct. Two were stolen on the same day at a secure complex in Fairland. The third was taken yesterday, also from a secure complex.
Fairland residents who own VW Polo Vivo's must take extra precaution in safeguarding them as they are extreme high risk vehicles.

Vehicle related crimes are currently showing an increase in the Honeydew SAPS Precinct. Drivers and owners of vehicles and trucks are being warned to be extremely aware at all times.

Employing domestic/gardeners/other workers:
When employing new domestic workers ensure that you get a copy of their I.D. as well as their physical address and details of their next of kin. Ensure that you do reference checks on prospective employees. If you have a worker in your employ you should have all their details with a copy of their I.D. on file.

Overall crime decreases during the winter months, reports ADT Central Region Managing Director Roy Rawlins. “We believe this is due to more people being at home for longer periods during the colder months,” he says.
Rawlins adds that ADT has noticed a decrease in serious crime throughout Johannesburg during the winter months so far and predicts a decrease both year on year (winter 2011 versus winter 2012) as well as summer months 2012 compared to winter months 2012.

A 27 year old suspect was arrested by the Roodepoort K9 unit for being in possession of Aldicarb (two-step) poison.
During patrols the members noticed a suspicious male walking through the streets in the Ruimsig area. The SAPS members approached the man and searched the suspect.
