Operation “Khoma Xigebenga”

Due to the continuing increase of residential and business robberies and residential burglaries the Cluster Commander Major General Oswald Reddy has launched operation “Khoma Xigebenga” to address these crimes.

Extra manpower has been deployed in the different station precincts during the hotspot dates and times to address these crimes. Operation “Khoma Xigebenga” means: “catch the criminals!”

The following arrests related to the operation were made in the Honeydew Cluster from the 18th of May till the 31st of May 2012:
Business Robberies: 02
Attempted Business Robbery: 02
Business Breaking: 06
House Robberies: 05
Housebreaking: 28
Attempted Housebreaking: 03
Possession of stolen goods: 20
Possession of police uniform: 01
Possession of unlicensed firearm: 03
Neighbourhood Safety:

Talk to people: everyone is concerned about crime and safety; ask them to join you in finding constructive ways to make your neighbourhood safe.

Exchange telephone numbers and agree on an emergency protocol; know how to reach your neighbours if there is a break in or a fire or if an alarm goes off.

Share information; meet with others in your neighbourhood, ensure everyone knows the emergency numbers.

Get involved in your neighbourhood watch, sector policing and local Community Police Forums.

Suspicious vehicles to be on the lookout for:
• White Mercedes Benz with one male occupant involved in a robbery common incident.
• White Hyundai with two males and one female occupant, armed, involved in a robbery with firearm incident whereby the complainant’s money was taken at gunpoint.
• Red Ford Focus with two males occupants involved in burglary residential.
• White VW Polo with two male occupants involved in theft of motor vehicles.
