Herewith details regarding some of the reported incidents in the Honeydew Precinct during the past week:
House Robberies:
At about 10:20 the complainant was alone in her house, in Sundowner, sitting in the lounge when suddenly she noticed an unknown male inside her house. The suspect was holding a golf club and a knife.
She pleaded with him not to hurt her. He took her to her bedroom where he left the complainant and went to ransack the house. The complainant managed to lock her bedroom and started screaming for help. The suspect got a fright and only managed to grab the complainant’s cell phone and a remote control. The Honeydew TRIO task team attended the scene and started following up leads from the scene and managed to arrest a 17 year old suspect. This suspect is the son of the complainant’s previous domestic worker and appeared in Randburg Court.
In another incident in Northwold the complainant was painting the wall outside the premises when he was approached by three suspects driving a green Jetta, with unknown registration number. The men pretended to be from an Insurance Company and wanted to see the owner of the house. He showed them in and they proceeded to the house where they confronted the owner of the house. The suspects pointed the owner with a firearm and demanded jewellery and money. One of the suspects assaulted the owner and he was tied up. The suspects ransacked the house and took cash, a laptop, jewellery and a cell phone.
At about 03:30 the complainant was sleeping at her residence in a Town House in Weltevreden Park when she was woken by a noise. She then noticed two unknown males in her room. The suspects demanded firearms and jewelery. The complainant explained that she did not have a firearm and the suspects got violent and slapped the complainant; they tied her hands and feet and covered her with a blanket. The suspects continued ransacking the house and took various items from the house and fled the scene.
In another incident in Wilgeheulwel the complainant was inside her house asleep at about 07:30, when she heard the door of her house opening. An unknown male then suddenly entered her room. He instructed the complainant to keep quiet. The suspect went from room to room and took electrical equipment. After a while the complainant heard that everything was quiet and managed to untie her hands and ran outside to get help. She then noticed that her dogs were lying on the grass and it was later established that the dogs were poisoned.
Business Robbery:
At about 19:10 the complainant was at work inside a Supermarket in Cosmo City. Four armed suspects entered the shop and pointed the complainant and three customers with firearms. The suspects instructed them to lie down on the floor; they took an undisclosed amount of cash, airtime, cigarettes and cell phones and fled the scene on foot.
At about 12:10 the manager of a shop in Strubensvalley was on duty when one unknown male entered the shop. The suspect was dressed in a white top and white trousers and had dreadlocks. The suspect greeted the manager and another staff member and then suddenly pointed them with a firearm. The suspect took them the storeroom where he robbed them of an undisclosed amount of cash.
In another Business Robbery in Weltevreden Park, the complainant was busy in his office at about 20:30.
The complainant then noticed an unknown male pointing one of the cashiers with a firearm; the cashier opened the till and gave the suspect the money. Suddenly another man entered the office and took the complainant to where the cashier
was. They were instructed to lie down with customers that were in the shop. The suspects took cell phones and cash and fled the scene in an unknown vehicle that was parked in the parking area.
Attempted Hi-jacking:
At about 01:10 the complainant was driving along Malibongwe drive just after the Lion Park. A Toyota Hilux was behind the complainant and it overtook him. It then crossed the road and blocked the road in front of him. The complainant managed to pass the bakkie but the bakie came past and tried to block the complainant again. A shot was fired at the complainant but he managed to get away and drove away from the suspects.
