Albert Street Koppie clean-up
A clean up of the koppie took Saturday June 5 at the corner of Albert and Lemoendoring, residents of Weltevreden Park got together with rubbish bags and gloves to clean up the mess.
There was a well trodden path to the top of the koppie; lots of debris, clothes and shoes, toothbrushes and razors etc.
The piles of ash were all cold so it appears no one had been cooking for a while but there were smells of very recent habitation. A police raid that took place a week or so ago may have chased the inhabitants away temporarily.
There was a great turnout on the day and many rubbish bags were filled with all the litter.
“Special thanks to Jenny Wagner and Rikkie Labuscagne who have properties adjacent to the Koppie, for cutting the grass (even though it's not their responsibility) as well as Alan Naismith, Lionel Smith, Dave and Brigitte, Walter and Rialeen, Keith Darge, Neville Marais, Amos and Constable Fotso (Sector 3 Manager) to name a few - the best we've had so far” said John Renwick of Panarama Residents Association (PRA).
“Thanks to all for turning up on the day and making a difference”, he added.
